Complete relaunch of one of Switzerland's most-used news platforms

One of the country's highest-reach news platforms was rebuilt from scratch — new design, new tech stack, new app, and new video platforms.

Starting point

One of the country's most-used platforms — running on yesterday's technology.

Technically outdated, not future-ready for mobile — under constant editorial and public scrutiny.

The platform had reach, but no longer had the technical foundation for the next generation of mobile usage. Internal expectations were high: new formats, faster iteration, better user experience — while keeping one of the country's most-used news brands running without interruption.

Added to that: a video portal with international production teams, a new social video brand in Instagram format on Google Cloud, and in parallel the expansion of the full platform technology to a new country market.

Role and contribution

The responsibility spanned strategic and operational dimensions — across multiple products, teams, agencies, and markets.

Full relaunch of web and app

Ran the full agency pitching process with the editor-in-chief, built a new development team, led UX/UI for the external design agency, and rebuilt the platform and top-3 app on new infrastructure.

Video portal and new digital formats

Built a video portal on Google Cloud with international production teams and launched a new social video brand in Instagram/Snapchat-style format to reach a new audience.

Product Management department built from scratch

Set up and led the entire Product Management department — internal product managers, external UX/UI, SEO, and analytics agencies — as Head of Product responsible for all digital products in the group.

Rebuild while live — with responsibility at CEO level.

The relaunch started with a structured agency pitching process alongside the editor-in-chief. From there, a dedicated development team was set up in a separate project space, all roadmaps and milestones for the full initiative were defined, and external design, UX, and SEO partners were led throughout.

In parallel: video portal build and expansion of the platform technology to new country markets. Stakeholder communication up to CEO level was a permanent part of the role.
